Health Services and Delivery Research Programme (HS&DR)

Aim: To improve the quality, accessibility and organisation of health services.

Funding: No defined upper limit.

Process: Two-stage process. There is a large drop-out rate of bids at the short-listing stage, where only potential 'winners' are selected to go forward. It is vital that short-listed projects address the feedback and advice given at this stage. The process takes 7 months.

Criteria: Applications will be judged on the following criteria:

  • importance to the NHS
  • ability to lead to significant improvements in health or health services
  • national importance (it is important to highlight the scale of the problem)
  • value for money
  • feasiblility  of the project
  • project management arrangements.
