A national survey in 2015 into the factors that affect public engagement by researchers across the UK shows there has been a positive shift in researchers’ understanding and attitudes to public engagement over the past ten years.

The study included a survey of over 2400 researchers across all disciplines found that eight in 10 (82 per cent) respondents had carried out at least one form of public engagement in the past year ranging from giving public lectures to using social media.
