The Health Education England (HEE) / National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Integrated Clinical Academic (ICA) Programme provides personal research training awards for non-medical healthcare professionals who wish to develop careers that combine clinical research and research leadership with continued clinical practice and clinical development. Applicants must belong to one of the eligible professions.
Clinical Doctoral Research Fellowships (CDRFs)
New for Round 3: Eligibility for the Clinical Lectureship and Senior Clinical Lectureship Schemes will be extended to Professional Doctorate graduates who meet the professional doctorate eligibility criteria available from the ICA webpages. Evidence should be submitted to the NIHR TCC (TCCawards@nihr.ac.uk) for confirmation of eligibility before proceeding with an application.
The eligibility of private or 3rd sector employing host organisations has been clarified; applicants must propose substantive employment by an English NHS body or other English healthcare provider that is at least 50% publicly funded, or by a recognised English Higher Education Institution. In addition, the clinical commitments within the award must be publically funded health and / or care services.
