RDS EM Turning Research Ideas into Proposals (TRIP) - Nottingham

  Wednesday, 06 Jul 2016 | Events/Workshops

  • Are you planning your first funding application for applied health or social care research as lead applicant?
  • Or maybe you're about to be a co-applicant for the first time?
  • Have you applied for funding once or twice before but think you'd benefit from knowing more about the application process and how to prepare a persuasive funding proposal?

This two day free workshop covers all key elements required to write a successful application, including what makes a proposal fundable, framing research questions and objectives, the NIHR standard application form, using an appropriate study design, stakeholder involvement and building suitable research teams.

Special focus will be given to:

  • a detailed discussion and critique of an example application
  • presentations from recent applicants
  • 3-5 minute pitches about your research proposal

Delegates will also have dedicated time to discuss their own proposals with other attendees and the RDS team!

Date: 6 - 7 July
Venue: The Discovery Suite, The Orchard Hotel, East Midlands Conference Centre, University of Nottingham Campus
Booking deadline:
10 June 2016 registration has now closed

Applicants are asked to submit a research idea which they would like to discuss and develop during the workshop. If you're unsure whether or not the workshop would be suitable for you please email and the workshop organiser will be in touch.
